HitorMS Reviews Constantine

If you want to see a movie worth the price of admission, Constantine, is the movie you want to see. It is not an "Academy Award" type of movie. However, it is a truly entertaining story that draws you in and never lets you down. It also is not the Matrix, but for Keanu Reeve fans it is another great performance to add to a growing list of must have DVD purchases.

Keanu plays John Constantine, a damned man trying to regain redemption by exorcizing demons. He is a troubled character in many ways, and his attitude is just as volatile as the path of his quest. He is surrounded by a marvelous group of supporting actors who not only make Constantine a believable character, but provide humor and further insight into a complicated man.

The special effects are stunning and really tap into what most of us think when the subjects of demons, angels, heaven and hell are imagined. I especially enjoyed the special touch of indicating angels and demons by their pupils glowing with golden and red light respectively. I was happy to see the amount of gore and blood splattering was done tastefully and not exploited in the movie. So often it is overdone and it is refreshing to see a movie of this type that took the high road for once.

I will remind those reading this review. This is not an Oscar winning movie. It does not make it a bad movie. It is entertaining, and a great way to escape reality for a little while. For those of you out there that think reviewers are wrong most of the time, suspend your disbelief, see the film, and make up your own mind. I do.
