Producer Mark Altman talks House of the Dead 2

Our friends from Creature Corner had the chance to speak to Mark A. Altman, who produces Michael Hurst's upcoming Zombie movie "House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim".

Here are a few clips from the interview:

CC: What can you tell me about the plot of "House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim"? Is it a more militaristic setting, like the video game? How does it tie-in with the previous film?

Mark Altman: The film is sort of like "Aliens" with zombies. It revolves around an AMS team that’s sent in to deal with a spreading infection. They’re responsible for quarantining the area, searching for survivors and, of course, killing what zombies they can while trying to retrieve a DNA sample from the original infected organism in order to hopefully stop the spread of the infection.

CC: How is this script better than the script for "House of the Dead"?

MA: Well, first, I think the original Dave Parker/Altman draft of "House of the Dead" was pretty good and it changed for a variety of reasons throughout production to the point where I don’t think it satisfied anyone including the director, the writers or the audience. The new script, which is based on a really interesting idea conceived by two screenwriters about finding the DNA for the original zombie, is really an extrapolation on that idea as well as the first two "House of the Dead" games. It has the flavor of "Aliens" as well as some of the black comedy and metaphor of "Starship Troopers" with much more adult and resourceful protagonists. If people don’t like it, I have no one to blame but myself, but I’m very optimistic that won’t be the case.
