ShakerMaker's Creep Movie ReviewPosted by:Being a fan of the British horror genre, I couldn't miss the opportunity to see Creep. Although, I had my reservations when I arrived at the cinema and all those who I had arranged to see the film with informed me that they'd heard it was crap! After watching the first fifteen minites it appeared that our fears were to be confirmed.
The acting was, to be fair, not quite Oscar nomination quality. A couple of familiar faces didn't do much to restore confidence. But as the story got going, it looked like redemption was on the horizon, and indeed it was! The desolate London underground provides an excellent setting for this film. And whilst the plot is harldy bubbling with originality, I felt it was a terrific homage to the retro, slasher Brit-flicks of the late 60's and early 70's. Whilst there are many unanswered questions with regards to the origins of "Craig" (A disused maternity ward deep within the warrens of the underground, maybe left abandoned after the war, and a picture of a young Craig, presumably with the doctor who delivered him??), not to mention lack of depth with regards to the characters, the film makes up for it with atmosphere and pure gruesome horror. A must for the all out, blood and guts single brain celled horror fan! I loved it!!!
