Goon Review: Hide and Seek

Posted by: Goon
Before I went to see this movie I thought it was going to be a bomb. I really don't like DeNiro's recent choices in films ( besides "Meet the Fockers"). From what I could tell from the commercials this looked to be just another corny "Godsend" type film. But luckily I was surprised by what the film had to offer.

The story begins with a psychologist, David, and his family getting ready to hit the sack. His wife tucks their daughter into bed and than goes in to wash up for the night. After, David falls asleep waiting for his wife to come to bed he is awakened during the night and realises she has not come to bed. What follows next sets the whole movie in motion for one crazy thriller.

Yes this movie is definetly more comfortable in the role of thriller and not in the same genre of horror that you would be used to. Yes, there are a few scenes that make you jump but its almost always based around trying to figure out who "Charlie" is.

Something that I didn't really enjoy about the film is I predicted the outcome before I even saw the film. If you are a big movie buff like myself you might be able to guess who "Charlie" is as well. The reason this was kind of a downer was that I predicted this after only seeing maybe two different TV spots.

I feel that everything in this movie was very well done and everyone played there role well. I came away from the theatre for the first time in awhle feeling that my money was well spent. If you are a fan of M Night Shyamalan or just like a good film, I suggest checking this one out. 7 out of 10. You can also read Hakeems Hide & Seek Movie Review to get a second opinion.
