Hugh Jackman With Disney!

Since playing the sideburned, blade fisted mutant Wolverine in the X-Men series Hugh Jackman has been selected to be the next Fred Astaire. The 36 year old Australian is to produce and star in a string of musical films for Disney. And rather than simply remake classic Hollywood musicals, Jackman is keen to find new stories to bring to the big screen.

He'll have his work cut out for him. "The musical is tough to pull off, but exhilarating and timeless when it works," said Hugh. "When it's done badly, it stinks to high heaven."

Jackman himself is no stranger to singing and dancing, He has appeared on stage in Okalhoma!, and last year won a Tony award for his Broadway portrayal of flamboyant Australian star Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz.

Under the deal, Disney will develop as many as three projects at the same time for Jackman, he is currently shooting sci-fi drama The Fountain, after which he'll star in the third installment of the X-Men series.
