After posting the news on the "American Psycho" Patrick Batman action figure (here), I thought it would be cool to bring you news (on the toy front) that deals with the movies that we love so much. Even though I may be a grown-up.. I'm still a big kid at heart.

First off, from SOTA toys is the "Now Playing" Series 2. This series includes (pictured below) "The Creeper" in Jeeper Creepers 2, the "Killer Klown" in Killer Klowns from Outter Space, and "Imhotep" from The Mummy Returns. These three figures in the series will be available in stores April 2005. When you get a chance, be sure to check out the "Now Playing" Series 1 (here) which includes: "Dr. Peyton Westlake" from Darkman, "Toxie" from Toxic Avenger, and "Nightmare Demons" from An American Werewolf from London. Series 1 will be availalbe in January 2005.

Now most of us might not of cared for the movie "Alien vs Predator". Personally, I thought it was a decent "popcorn flick", nothing more.. but this.. now I'd have to say is pretty "bad ass", and I would love to have in my collection.

AvP Chess Collection

Here's SOTA toys has to say about this: This is definitely NOT your traditional chess set, its more like a playset with a fully sculpted board that recreates the temple-like setting for some of the major action sequences seen in the film. This magnificent set includes 8 alien eggs(pawns), 2 chestburster(rooks), 2 fachuggers(bishops), 2 warrior aliens(knights), 1 Queen Alien(Queen), (King), 8 GLAIVES?(pawns), 2 LASER GUN?(rooks), 2 wrist knives(bishops), 2 hunter Predators(knights), 1 (Queen) and 1 (King). . The pieces range in size from 1 1/2 (Alien Pawn) to 3 1/2 inches tall(Alien Queen). The chess board/case is modeled like the stone temple location of the movie, measures 19 by 19 inches, stores all the pieces within and is a beautiful dispaly piece on its own.

This is a limited edition set (only 3,000 made) and was released in November 2004. This item goes for $299.99 - "CHECKMATE!"

In "Aliens" Colonial Marine Hudson was probably my favorite character in the whole movie - but that's besides the point. Fans of the film "Aliens" can now get their hands on this Col. Hicks McFarlane Club Exclusive.

Here's what is said about this varient:Though it shares a sculpt with the Hicks that was released in Movie Maniacs Series 7 in Fall 2004, the Club version is radically different.

This Hicks has a helmeted head and includes a motion tracker that hangs around the figure's torso. Instead of a pulse rifle, Club Hicks has a shotgun with a holster on his back. The package features a new base with egg pod and a dead facehugger accessory. Finally, this version features the McFarlane Toys Collector's Club designation on the clamshell packaging.

Purchase limits on this item will be two per household and it will sell for $10 each plus shipping beginning January 10, 2005. Also, McFarlane Toys is schedule to release Alien vs Predator 2 series sometime in 2005. As of yet, no details have been made available.
