Exclusive: Vs the Dead - A look inside the Production Company

Posted by:
Phil Pattison, co-director of the upcoming Indie Zombiemovie "Vs. the Dead", sent us a brief, but very informative Bio about their Production Company Rabidog Films. The summary was writen by Peter Klaassen.

Hamilton, Ontario's Rabidog Films was founded in the beginning of 2003.

At its core, are Jeff Beckman (Writer, Co-Director), Phil Pattison (Writer, Co-Director) and Dave Montour (Actor, Co-Producer), three friends who decided that it was about time they did something they enjoyed instead of just daydreaming about it.

"We tossed the idea of making a zombie movie back and forth for a while before anything happened," says Pattison . "It got to the point where we either had to start doing something or stop talking about it."

Thankfully, the ball started rolling and principal photography for "Vs. the Dead", Rabidog's first full-length feature, began in the spring of 2004. It's been a hell of a ride ever since with shooting wrapping up this month´(January). 100% independent, Rabidog has been resourceful and is using every trick in the book to get their project completed all on a shooting budget that started at a mere $10,000.

From old-school movie magic and effects in the Tom Savini tradition, to digital image manipulation, they do what they have to achieve their goals. If a few minor laws get broken in the process, so be it. Pattison says the Rabid mantra is: "The promise to bring the masses quality low-budget, digital video terrorism at any cost.

"Vs. the Dead" is an undead tour-de-force that will claw its way into your waking nightmares this fall, if everything goes according to plan.

In "Vs. the Dead", a military vehicle is on route to unload pounds of a failed experimental chemical known only as ROUND 2. A problem arises when a near collision sends the vehicle fishtailing into a rural mailbox causing bottles of the fatal, yet life reviving substance to be strewn about the property. The occupants of the vehicle quickly assess the mess and collect all the spilled cargo.........or do they?

Special THX to Phil Pattison for sending us the mail !
