I'm not sure where this movie would be placed on this page so i'm sticking with horror. someone gets shot in the eye so i'll say it's horror. yeah that sounds good.

Once again i saw ads for this movie and i passed. didn't look interesting. one night i was flipping through channels and i came across it and i see the main character donnie and he's looking at a bad cgi liquid abyss type thing coming out of his chest. *click* i changed the channel to rug rats or something. i'm walking along the video store (where they all know my name and treat me like norm on cheers) and i see the cover and once again i pass. i had just gotten burned on a movie called valentine with the guy who plays angel. i don't know his name i just know he has a very sloping forehead like he's number 3 on the evolutionary ladder. whatever! VALENTINE SUCKED! i should've known better. but as i always say about every movie "every bottle washes up on my beach. " or another way to say it is "every turd floats down my sewer" i watch everything. if i haven't seen it i will soon.

my fiance once again is flippingthrough channels and she stops on this movie where a guy in a rabbit costume is talking very creepy. *pow* i'm interested. i sit and watch it and i am blown away but i only get to see 30 minutes of it. so we run back up to hollywood video and rent it. i watch this slice of 80's nostalgia and i am amazed that this is the directors first movie. richard kelly, if you were a beer i'd drink you. if you were a girl i'd ask you out. if iwere a girl i'd have your babies.

The movie is about Donnie and how one night he wakes up and goes sleep walking with a large man in a sinister bunny outfit. the time he's gone a jet engine falls from the sky and crushes his room which obviously means he would have died. from then on strange things keep happening and everytime he falls asleep he's doing bad things that might have a meaning because the night the rabbit spoke to him he told him "twenty-eight days, six hours, forty-two minutes, twelve seconds. that is when the world will end" now we are stuck with the thought hta maybe this disturbed boy might just be making all of this up or there are strange occurences happening around him that can't be explained.

the movie is a countdown to the moment when the rabbit predicted the world will end and it's one HELL OF A RIDE! i love this movie. it is the first time in a long time where a movie actually touched me. the "mad world "sequence goes into my time capsule for the future generations. along with the micheal Dukakis talk.

the movie is not exactly a horror movie. it's not quite a comedy. it's not a sci-fi movie either. not exactly a drama. it's just the perfect balance of all of them. also if anyone didn't understand the movie feel free to ask me. i was obsessed and still am to some degrees and i can tell you all kinds of secret info type stuff. i actually understand the ending and can explain it but i won't on here unless some one blabs like they usually do.

i do ask that please don't ruin the ending if you've seen it. it is so much more...powerful if it's not ruined. i had someone ruin the sixth sense and a perfect storm for me and that pisses me off like you wouldn't believe.

i give this movie a 10
