New Movie The Radio Mechanics

Lance Warlock who is a friend of Paul Swearingens ( The Second Line ) emailed me last night to let me know that he is involved in a film called The Radio Mechanics. The Radio Mechanics, is a stylized psychological sci-fi short, in the tradition of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, involving a frayed research scientist and a late night radio talk show host. "Weâ€™re trying not to give out a lot of details of the story so that it doesnâ€™t spoil the ending," says writer Jonathan Johnson.

The group plans to begin principle photography in July following an open casting call to be held on two days at the end of June. A number of other local businesses and groups have stepped forward to generously provide locations, props and other support in exchange for on-screen credits.

Dream Alley Studios will provide casting services and production assistance. J&R Artworks will supply graphic elements. Aperture Studios will be handling production and post production chores with Unit 12 Productions composing an original music score.

Co-producer Preston Herrick of Aperture Studios says, "Weâ€™ll be using digital video technology similar that used by George Lucas but on a smaller, less expensive level. We can produce a very convincing "film-look" without the expense of shooting on film. It should be fun project."

The group plans to enter the finished film in festivals and parlay their work into larger, more abitious projects down the road. Look for more information on this film soon!
