If you value your sanity, and are not a homosexual male, do not see this movie.
As a healthy heterosexual male who enjoy's well shot battle scenes encased in an excellent plot I was horrified by this movie.
Yes, Alexander was probably bi-sexual, he might have even been homosexual. That is still being debated by historians. To have that point hammered into your brain like a white hot six inch rivet, is appaling in a movie that is supposed to entertain the audience, not drive them away. At this moment a friend is busy calling everyone he knows telling them not to see the move. I expected a movie like Gladiator or Braveheart. Instead I got a B movie that turned out to be a gay love story.
The movie starts out with indesipherable drival spouted from the mouth of ptolomy, one of Alexanders close advisors. The audience doesn't find out that fact until a quarter of the movie has painfully gone by, and half the audience has walked out. The battle scenes are palatable although not as well shot as a large battle scene could be. But the plot is offensive and largly boring. With almost every scene making a statement about Alexanders sexuality. The one high point in the movie is the nude scene by Rosario Dawson, speaking as a healthy heterosexual male of course.
