Wolverine 2 Begins Filming Next January

Wolverine was a big let down for me but I will admit that the new writer they tapped brings me high hopes for the sequel. Christopher McQuarrie is writing Wolverine 2 and his credits include The Usual Suspects the greatest crime thriller ever made. Today from Showbiz411 comes word that the movie will be shooting in January of next year. They say;

No director has been signed. And the script is a little different than originally thought.

Based on a story cycle by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont, Wolverine’s adventures in martial arts will be a love story featuring a Japanese actress, I am told. “It’s a beautiful story,” says a source, “and will be very different than the first film.”

Some time back in an interview with Hugh Jackman MTV was able to get the goods on Wolverine 2 and the storyline the new film will follow. No surprise we will find Wolverine in Japan in what could be a much darker tale;

The source for the film will be the four-issue Wolverine mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, published in 1982. The story, famously conceived as Claremont and Miller traveled home from the San Diego Comic Con, saw Wolverine heading to Japan on the trail of his love Mariko Yashida. He arrives to find her married to a cold businessman, and he soon finds himself at odds with Mariko’s father and the ninja clan The Hand.

Stay tuned for more.
