2010 Golden Globe Winners

Last night was the 2010 Golden Globes and here is a complete recap of who won the awards. There were not any really big winners but Avatar did walk away with a few awards as did the hit HBO tv series Dexter. Here is the complete list of winners;

Best Dramatic Motion Picture:

  • Avatar: Avatar was up against The Hurt Locker and Inglorious Basterds and still managed to pull off the win. No shock it won but in the same token I felt that The Hurt Locker was a superior 'dramatic film'.

Best Movie, Comedy or Musical

  • The Hangover: The Hangover was a clear cut winner. Even fans knew that this film would come out on top as its easily the funniest movie to be made in years. You can watch it once, twice, three times and each time you will laugh harder.

Best Animated Feature Film

  • Up: I recently watched UP with my lovely woman and we both thought it was a tragic, funny and truly entertaining experience. UP is a movie more for the adults then the kids but the fact you can grow so attached to characters in a movie about a man dragging a house inflated with helium balloons is a testament to just how good it is.

Best Movie Director

  • James Cameron, Avatar: Considering James Cameron put his heart and soul into AVATAR this is one award that he was truly deserving of. Avatar was a directorial masterpiece and Cameron really pulled out all the stops to deliver a truly mesmerizing experience.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Dramatic Television Series

  • Michael C. Hall, Dexter: Dexter is a fantastic film and despite Michael Hall's less then impressive performance in GAMER he is a great actor. He plays the emotionless serial killer with a motive to a T. A great film that all fans of dark thrillers should be watching. Season 3 was a bit flat but Seasons 1, 2 and 4 are absolute genius.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Comedy / Musical TV Series

  • Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock: I got into 30 Rock based on a reccomendation by a friend and wow what a film. I love every aspect of 30 Rock. Its witty, intelligent and outright hilarious. I am not normally a fan of Alec Baldwin but will admit that he does one hell of a job as the head of the Network in 30 Rock.

Best Peformance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Mini-Series or Made for TV Movie.

  • Chloe Sevigny, Big Love: One thing I really miss about not getting HBO anymore is the great mini-series that they run and Big Love was one of them. Chloe Sevigny shined in the series on HBO and is not only stunning but one of my favorite actresses. Who would have thought that a show about polygamy could be so heart warming and entertaining.

Best Original Movie Score

  • Michael Giacchino, Up: The thing I love most about Pixar movies is its not just about the animation but its also about great writing and a great score. The music in UP was fantastic and really tied the entire film together. The animation combined with fantastic writing and a great movie score are what made this movie such a great film for everyone.  So much was told just through the score of this film.

Best Peformance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Made for TV Movie

  • John Lithgow, Dexter: Really all that can be said about this one is its John Lithgow! He is one of the most talented character actors around and brings to Dexter what he does to all his projects... pure genius!

Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy

  • Robert Downey Jr., Sherlock Holmes: Robert has always been an actors actor with some serious depth to his talent despite a few hiccups in his personal life. Iron Man put him on the map as the go to actor to deliver a strong performance that will appeal to the masses and his performance in Sherlock Holmes only solidified that fact.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

  • Christopher Waltz, Inglorious Basterds: Inglorious Basterds was a fantastic film with a great cast and great writing. Christopher Waltz's war of minds in the opening sequence of Inglorious Basterds was absolute genius and easily one of the highlights of the film. A very deserving win.
