Spiderman Remake to be Darker, aka Batman Begins

Batman Begins did for the Batman fracnhise what every fanboy wanted to see. Took it to a new level, made it darker and made it a more deep and explosive experience. Frankly when SONY announced Spiderman 4 before they just fired Raimi and scrapped it I was hoping it WOULD be dark and brooding and a bit less 'teen fare'. Seems that with Spiderman 4 being cancelled they are planning to do just that with a remake.

First off its worth saying that a remake of Spiderman is to soon. Spiderman was made in 2001 and remaking it now is just way to early. The goal of the remake however is to go right back to page one where Peter Parker is in High School and make it much darker. The interesting part is that the script is already done. According to EW when Sam Raimi rejected James Vanderbilts script for Spiderman 4 SONY had him start work on a reboot script which is why this movie can be pushed into production it seems pretty quick.

I like the idea of making it a darker tone, and just because its a remake doesnt mean they have to do the same villains but regardless.... why a remake? Cant they do a 4th film with a new cast and director and take things in a new direction without the need to start over?

I am not sure some of you even want to hear this but reportedly Robert Pattinson is being kicked around as a potential Spiderman as is Michael Cera.
