James Cameron Plans Avatar Sequels

AVATAR hasnt even exploded into theaters yet and already James Cameron is ready not with one but two potential sequels according to Cinematical. James Cameron says he is ready when FOX is to launch more films. The expected budget for AVATAR is $500million with marketing and I cant see FOX jumping on a sequel pitch for at least a week after its release so they can look at revenue returns. Cinematical qutoes James Cameron as saying;

So in terms of the pitch it was: OK, you've spent a lot of money on the first one; on the second one we'll be able to amortize it and focus on the story and all that ... and they bought that." If there's one piece of Avatar that people will criticize, it will be the somewhat weak, cliched story -- and so knowing that story will be the main focus of any sequels is definitely a good thing."

I am looking forward to Avatar but its by no means a movie i am dieing to see. It opens December 18th. The movie is about Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture.
