New Moon Breaks More Records

The best move that Summit ever made was to get the rights to the Twilight Franchise. That film franchise is a license to print money. Or at least take money from every teenage girl in the free world. Not only has the film sold out 2100 theaters and its not even out yet but its also now accounting for 94% of all Ticket Sales. Can you say cha-ching?

The anticipation surrounding “New Moon” has been growing since tickets went on sale in September, and the film is certainly living up to expectations. Today “New Moon” breaks another record capturing the No. 1 spot on MovieTickets.com’s list of the Top-10 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time. The film surpassed the former top contender “Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and film franchises including “Harry Potter” and “Lord of the Rings” as it set a new record.

 “By landing the No. 1 spot on our advance ticket sellers list, ‘New Moon’ has broken a record that has stood unchallenged for almost five years,” stated Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager, MovieTickets.com. “While this achievement is significant, it comes as little surprise considering the film’s dedicated fan base and the growing trend of purchasing advance tickets online for highly anticipated films such as the ‘Twilight’ series.”
