Dark Knight Sequel Filming Next Year

Love Comic Con. A fan asked Gary Oldman during a press panel for The Book of Eli when we might see the sequel to the Dark Knight and he came out and said that filming will begin next year with a release date set for 2 years from now. This is cool news and confirmation of an earlier report. Earlier in the year Dark Knight producer Michael Uslan told the Courier post that it would be coming in 2011 which is what Gary Oldman also just said at Comic Con.

Quote from Courier Post that we posted some time back;

“It’s not just a great comic book film, it’s a great film,” says Uslan who also produced “The Spirit” and has three more films in various stages of development, “When I first saw “The Dark Knight,’ I was so happy I wanted to cry.”

Uslan will be onboard as executive producer for the “Dark Knight” sequel, which he estimates will be theaters by 2011. As for the identity of the next round of Batman’s supervillains and love interests, Uslan remains tight-lipped. “It’s one of those deals where if I told you, I’d have to kill you,” he says with a chuckle.

Without question The Dark Knight was a great movie and a sequel could be just as fun! Remember one thing from this story though. Michael Caine came out and announced the villain for Dark Knight 2 and it was WRONG. So dont put all your faith in what Gary Oldman said.
