New Moon: Robert Pattison, Kirsten Stewart Interview

Posted by: Michael

Read our Snippets from the New Moon Press Day at Comic Con !  I knew you would all want to hear what Robert and Kristen Stewart as well as Taylor Lautner had to say right away so here are some highlights. You can look for the whole thing a bit later on. Robert Pattinson said in reference to how he will appear in New Moon;

Through a kind of process, it’s just a voice. It’s Edward’s voice in the book so I guess it would probably look pretty cheesy if it were just my voice. They’ve done these hallucinations, kind of semi-visible apparitions.

To which Kristen Stewart responded;

It’s suggestive. It’s how she remembers him. Not necessarily how he actually is.  If he doesn’t go, you can’t miss him. That’s what this whole movie’s about is that empty, completely dark place where Edward is absent.

Kristen Stewart also said the following in reference to shooting and preparing for New Moon;

I wouldn’t say that one was more difficult than the other. This is more, it’s a severely emotional movie. Everybody knows that. That’s the one big difference. This movie’s not about discovery or falling in love. It’s an intense emotion but this is low. There are high points for her too. She’s like a manic depressive basically. To have a character that’s able to pull her out of that is a hefty feat which I think he pulled off. For me, I don't know, there was no difference. It was just heavier. There as more to think about. Ti’s a more mature part. She’s older. She has more to deal with.

Taylor Lautner on his transformation into a wolf and his role in New Moon;

 I don't know, I thought they did a pretty good job with the wolf transformation. I’m excited that there’s werewolves involved now because the werewolves definitely step up the action in the movie. There’s double the action in this movie than there was before. There’s also a double dynamic. There’s not just this romance between a human and a vampire. It’s the beginning of a love triangle.

Robert Pattinson on how New Moon is Different from Twilight;

It wasn’t just the director that made this one different. IT was different because we kind of knew what animal we were dealing with now and I was much more a supporting role in this one. I started three weeks after we started shooting and my first scenes were the apparition scenes which involved me doing maybe one word a week. …. I had a pretty much stress free job of three months. It was great for me. All the pressure was on Taylor.

IT looks aesthetically so different .the script was different. It’s a different mood.

Robert Pattison on his favorite scene in New Moon;

I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene. Hopefully it will come off as having quite a few more levels than the relationship in Twilight. I hope - - it was interesting. It’s a five page long dialogged scene [which is more than I ever had in the first one]. It’s an interesting moment that completely bypasses all the supernatural elements of the story as well.

Taylor Lautners Favorite scene in new moon;

My original favorite scene was this really small scene. I just thought it was kind of cute. It was the scene where I walk her up to her door and say goodbye to her and I’m going off to fight in the woods and she’s worried, she’s scared for me. I thought that was kind of cute. I also like the breakup scene.

Kristen Stewart agreed with Taylor on Favorite scene;

Yeah, that’s my favorite scene. We call it a breakup scene because he basically tells her they can’t be friends anymore and he’s transforming. If you ever, ever treated me like that, you’d kill me.
