John Rogers writing Transformers movie script

According to Variety, screenwriter John Rogers ("Catwoman") is writing the script for the "Transformers" movie. The live-action DreamWorks/Paramount film is based on  the popular Hasbro 80's toys and cartoons.

Steven Spielberg is executive producing the film that is slated for a Summer 2006 release and will likely be a franchise property. Tom DeSanto (who executive produced the two X-Men films), wrote the story that Rogers will adapt.

John Rogers is also working on "Rush Hour 3" for director Brett Ratner at New Line, and produce a film version of the comic "Fatal Frame".
