House of 1000 Corpses ReviewPosted by:Now i know alot of people don't seem to like this movie. I'm a rob zombie fan from wayyyyyy back so i of course loved it. when i heard it was being made by universal i was like sweet! then it was moved and pushed back. then finally i found out it was bought by lion's gate and i was giddy. lion's gate always seemed to put out movies that no one else does and they are usually good.
the movie came to theaters and in my small craphole of a town the movie wasn't playing. to console my bruised soul beacuse seeing it meant i had to drive to columbus and i despise that town (long story) i went and saw the matrix reloaded (suuuuUUUUUUUUUCKED!)but at the time i was all about it. so after my vacation to florida i come back and ladd-dee-freakin'-daH house of 1000 corpses is playing at our local 3 screen movie theater. so i go see it and i was blown away. from a story standpoint the movie was pretty bad (not to me) from a dialogue standpoint i loved every vulgar word that came out of the people's mouths. from the visual standpoint the movie was a mish mash of styles that i couldn't get enough of. i was gripped wih house of 1000 corpses fever. i had dreams. i bought the soundtrack. i did captain spaulding impressions. so flash forward 3 months to august 14th. me and my fiance decide to go buy the dvd because it had just come out if not on that day, verrry near by. so we buy it and i bought a cd. we play maybe five tracks from the album (twiztid "the green book") and we go out to lunch. good day thus far if not hot as all hell. so we rush home and i open my dvd player and pop in the movie i have been creaming myself over for months. i get all the way to my fave part (when otis kills the cops to the slim whitman song) and the lights get really bright and then they dim. *poof* the powers gone. My first sentence was "WHAT THE FUDGE!?!?" as i rise and look around. the lights kick back on, so I turn all the stuff back on. My house is prone to power outages like the one from fight club. i sit through the menus and get to scene selection i find the part i'm looking for. maybe five seconds later than i made it the first time the power cuts out again. to say i was pissed would be an understatement. so we get ready for work and walk outside. there is only silence. it's hard to explain unless you were there. the world was just quiet and all i could hear were car horns and cars engines. So after we see none of the lights are working we are sent home as people begin to blame the blackout on al-queda and others are screaming its the end of the world. i'm thinking...well at least i have my cd so i put on my headphones and pow the batteries die. so the rest of the day is spent laughing at people rushing for gas they can't get and i bought salsa and spam. (not for each other) later that night i got called back to work because of all the places in ohio my job was like one of 3 that got the power back. when i got home i watched house of 1000 corpses and life returned ot an even keel. i love that movie and i would have done a good review of it but i feel my story was a bit funnier than a review of the movie most of you (if not all) have seen before.
