According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Imageworks has been tapped to provide the visual effects for director Bryan Singer's 2006 release "Superman Returns".

The filming for The Warner Bros. movie is expected to begin in Australia early next year, with Gil Adler, Jon Peters and Singer producing. Mark Stetson is supervising the visual shots for Warner Bros.

Imageworks has not yet confirmed an internal supervisor, and a digital effects shot breakdown is still pending.

Sources also said that the early estimate for "Superman" is about 800 shots. This ammount of effects is comparable to Columbia Pictures' "Spider-Man 2".
