Movies Promoting During the Superbowl AnnouncedPosted by: LukeLets face it the one reason a lot of us even watch the Superbowl is not for the football, its for the commercials. I, however, watch for both but always love to get a good first look at some of the new films coming out. This year is going to be no different. Even with the economy in the dumps NBC is amping up the price for a commercial spot from $2.7 million to $3 million. Thats a big leap for some companies and many have decided to bow out completely. So what can we look forward to? Well Variety managed to get a great list of which films will be making a splash in front of 100 million U.S. viewers. Paramount’s "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Star Trek" and "G.I. Joe"; Sony’s "Angels and Demons"; DreamWorks Animation’s "Monsters vs. Aliens"; and Universal’s "Land of the Lost" and its fourth installment in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise. Disney and Fox haven't even bought any spots yet but it is believed that Disney is working on getting something in there for Pixar's "Up". Fox is also trying to work something out to sneak in some "Wolverine" action. So why are so many studios holding back? Well there seems to be a number of reasons. For the most part however they are waiting for NBC to lower the price so they can fill the rest of the open spots that they have. Another reason is that how can some of them compete with films like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which will be showing its first frame of the film during the Superbowl. They don't think the cost would be worth possibly getting lost in the mix. So on Superbowl Sunday on February 1st be sure to keep an eye out for some of these spots, especially the Transformers one. |
