The Dark Knight In Theaters Again!

Awhile back you may remember they were talking about re-releasing Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight into theaters. Today Warner Bros. have made that official and on January 23rd, 2009 you will be able to check it out again in both IMAX and regular theaters. In the announcement today the Preisdent of Warner's Domestic Distribution stated, "'The Dark Knight' is a crowning achievement in every sense of the word. We wanted to provide one more opportunity for moviegoers to experience it on the big screen as it was meant to be seen."

Now in my mind I don't really buy this whole "there is only one way to 'experience' this film" argument. I think it has more to do with two things. First is money. Its obvious that they are just itching to make a billion dollars with this movie. They know that the hardcore fans of this movie will make the trek to the theater to check this out again because if you haven't seen it yet you didn't want to in the first place.

The second reason is to create some more Oscar buzz for Heath Ledger. I've made my feelings known about his role and I don't think it was really Oscar worthy. The guy whom I thought really stole the show was Aaron Eckhart and I really hope he gets at least a nod. All that said though I may still head out and see the film on IMAX because I have heard it is simply amazing. I saw Spiderman 2 that way and was blown away.
