Hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Coming

Awhile back I reported that a live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was in the works. Well apparently that post was put up by Kevin Eastman whom no longer really owns the property anymore. So sadly that doesn't seem to be happening. BUT, MTV caught up with the man who does know whats going on Peter Laird and asked him several questions about the project.

Apparently they are in heavy talks to create a hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. What he means by that exactly is that they will take live actors and locations and add the Turtles in with CGI. Now I for one am not a fan of this idea. I love the complete live action idea much more. Sure technology has come a long way but nothing will ever beat having the actors actually react with something that is really there and tangible.

No plot has been given yet of course and he really has no idea what he wants to do with it yet. They haven't even decided on a villian yet except that he would love to either bring back Shredder or create someone new. He did comment that he would love to have Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chris Evans reprise their roles in the flesh as April O'Neil and Casey respectively.

Lastly the idea of bring back the original director came up. To which Laird responded, "I have tremendous respect for Steve Barron and for the fantastic directing job he did on the first live-action “TMNT” movie. He saved that movie, basically. We’ve spoken to him a few times, and I would be very pleased if he ended up directing the next “TMNT” movie. That being said, I am pretty sure that right now no offer has been made or accepted. Again, I have to stress that we are still in the very beginning stages of this process."
