Superman Reboot Is Coming

Just a couple days ago we told you that there were some whispers around Hollywood that Warner Bros. was looking to reboot the Superman franchise. Well today that news is confirmed as The Wallstreet Journal spoke with Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov.

"'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

Does he sound a little bitter to you? I would guess so. I'm not sure if they are going to be begging Singer to come back to the project anytime soon. Especially because they are planning to make all their super hero films as dark as they can take each character. A dark Superman? That would be an interesting take on a character whom I have always seen as a beacon of light and justice.

So now they plan on releasing a brand new Superman. This probably means they will be bringing on board an all new actor as well. Usually when a studio wants to reboot something they want new blood. Hulk is a very good example of what can happen when you reboot something the right way. Keep it here for more.
