The Dark Knight Continues Its Dominance

Why does this feel like deja vu? Once again The Dark Knight has topped the box office for third week in a row. This time it just barely passed up The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with $43.8 million. This brings the domestic box office for The Dark Knight to a grand total of $394.9 million. This total makes it the 8th all time leader in domestic box office.

I posed this question the last time I did one of these updates but I will ask it again. Could it become the highest grossing film of all time? I'm one to think it does. Personally I didn't think the movie was as uber fantastic as everyone has been making it out to be but I am obviously in the minority. Word-of-mouth and some positive reviews have driven this movie to rack up an insane amount of loot in a very short amount of time.

Of course sitting on top of the list is The Titantic with $600.8 million. Which is a very large number but lets think of all the folks who will be going back to watch the movie again and those who have been waiting around for the crowds to die down. With a very respectable $43 million this weekend I think it has a good chance if it pulls in one more good weekend. Only time will tell.
