Sam Raimi Goes Disney for Transplants?

Posted by: Luke

This is some of the weirdest news I have heard in awhile. Sam Raimi the director behind the Evil Dead series, Darkman and the Spider-Man films is going to team up with Disney for The Transplants. Yea I know you're thinking, "This isn't that weird.. Its a medical thriller about transplanting organs in some twisted manor right?" No... this is a "four-quadrant ensemble superhero story with a comedic bent" according to THR.

Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson wrote the story and wanted to turn the project into a comic book. But Disney was so keen on the story that they pre-emptively picked it up. Recently it seems that Disney is trying to broaden their appeal rather than aiming films at just for your everyday family. In the works they have the sci-fi actioner "Surrogates" and the upcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland by Tim Burton which already sounds interesting just with Burtons name attached.

So Sam being attached to this project might not be so odd as I had originally thought. He is well known for his comedy and anybody who has seen Spider-Man 2 can tell you he has the comic book superhero movie down. We'll be keeping a close eye on this project in the coming weeks.
