Angelina Jolie to play Catwoman?

This is some very interesting news that I came upon today. It seems that Daily News recently had a chat with the original Catwoman, Julie Newmar. She played the role during the original Batman series starring Adam West. During the conversation she mentioned that she would love to see Angelina Jolie slip into the skin tight latex suit to play the role of Catwoman. Shes not the only one!

Newmar believes that Jolie would "own" the part. She also told the site, "My industry friends tell me [she] has made inquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman's one true love," noted Newmar. She's tremendously popular with women because she's both a heroine and a villainess. When you look at the staggering box office of this current film, which actress wouldn't want to jump in?"

Now this could be a very interesting development. I would love to see her take on the role and I completely agree with Newmar here. Plus I think the series needs a new female character. That is if they do indeed make a third film with Nolan and Bale. The role was previously played by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992's Batman Returns and then later trashed by Halle Berry in Catwoman.
