Will Dark Knight Help WatchMen? Yes it Will!

We sat down with Zach Snyder and the entire Cast of Watchmen ( full interviews coming ) and one of the interesting points made by Zach is how the success of Dark Knight will help the Watchmen be the best movie it can be. Why? Because Dark Knight is the first really dark and disturbing mainstream stab in the box office. Its overly violent, its sadistic, and its long and its just made $300million in its opening week.

The Watchmen has a clearly paved and much easier road to getting a PG-13 rating with its own dark messages and themes and more importantly with some luck we will actually get a movie that is 3hours or touches near it. You really can not do Watchmen for less then that can you?

Dark Knights success is simply more good news for us fanboys. Iron Man was a huge success but was very much PG family friendly fare. Dark Knight was disturbing, dark and insanely violent in its tone and message and it opens the door for more risky comic book movies in the future.. and more leeway for great directors like Zach Snyder!
