Tom Cruise in talks for Top Gun 2

I literally laughed when I read this. You know what we need? Top Gun 2. Thats what we need. Tom Cruise is in talks with the studio to breathe new life into the character he played over 20 years ago in a new sequel. The plot outline from are friends at WAM goes like this;

Tom Cruise is in talks with the studios to bring back Pete “Maverick” Mitchell for Top Gun 2. 22 years after the original debuted in 1986, Cruise will have his character Maverick teaching at Top Gun and dealing with a cocky female fighter pilot.

Would anyone watch this? I mean I loved Top Gun but for a VARIETY of reasons I dont want to see Tom Cruise or Top Gun 2. Whats the point?
