Pitt and DiCaprio in Tarantino's Bastards?

Posted by: Luke

Quentin Tarantino is well known for talking about a project WAY before he even plans on doing it.. Remember The Vega Brothers, The Whole Bloody Affair and dare I say Kill Bill 3? Well one project that it looks like he is finally picking up on is The Inglorious Bastards remake. Something very odd happened today in Variety that had it involved anybody but Tarantino, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio would have never seen print in the trade.

Apparently Tarantino is busy with the Weinstein Co. searching for a co-financing partner to handle offshore territories. They are meeting with five studios from Friday through Tuesday. Several studios have already said the script was vintage Tarantino and they would be more than happy to work with him for the right price.

Now this is where everything gets juicy. It is also revealed that Tarantino met with Brad Pitt in France on Tuesday. The director sees Pitt in the role of Aldo Raine from the original film. Now today he is meeting with Leonardo DiCaprio to see if he would be interested in the role of Hans Landa. If this thing really picks up steam its going to attract ALOT of attention.

Of course we will be following this one closely as it sounds like he is really getting serious with the project now. Also be on the look out for my review of the original Inglorious Bastards three disc special edition from Severin. If you are interested it will be on DVD on July 29th so pick it up to see just what Tarantino loved so much about it.
