Toei Studios plan to boycott Memoirs of a Geisha

The Sun, a Hong Kong Newspaper, reports that Toei is going to refuse to lease its set to the Americans. According to the paper Toei is mad that the cast consists mostly of Chinese and not Japanese.

Both the movie and the book are taken from a westerners point of view. The Japanese are upset that the Geishas are portrayed as prostitutes. When in fact Geishas were entertainers and considered by many to be artists.
