Next Film From Marvel Is Runaways

Marvel has been doing very well for themselves recently with Iron Man pulling in some huge numbers and Hulk seems to be looking good so far. So whats next for Marvel on the horizon? Runaways. Yeah, you are probably a little confused because you have no idea who the hell these characters are. I'm in the same boat.

According to THR, Brian K. Vaughn, co-creater of the comic will be adapting the screenplay for the project. "Runaways" follows a group of teenagers who find that some family secrets are bigger than others when they discover their parents are actually super-villains. Running away from their homes, the teens band together and begin a journey of discovery, both of their parents' origins and of their own inherited powers, while trying to make up for the evil done by their folks.

I don't know how well this will go over with the mainstream audience. I think people go to see Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. because they know the characters. They have seen them around since at the very least the 1960s. Iron Man even goes farther back. So will Runaways be able to capture that same interest? I doubt it, but it can be done with some good marketing and especially by Marvel pushing the comic more into the mainstream.
