Sad news for those awaiting Kung Fu HustlePosted by:Huayi Brother's president, Wang Zhong Lei, just announced that Stephen Chows "Kung Fu Hustle" is no longer being distributed by Columbia Pictures. Unfortunately Miramax has now bought the rights to the film. He also went on to say "...and Miramax has promised us that it will be released nationwide, rather than in arthouse theatres only."
That is if they decide to release it at all. It took them nearly three years to release Hero. So what can we expect this time? Maybe the same treatment they gave Chows other film. Dub it horribly and play it in about 3 theatres across America? Well I still have high hopes for this film and I will give Miramax the benefit of the doubt hoping they have learned from their mistakes. UPDATE: This was in fact a rumor. The film will still be released by our good friends at Sony Pictures Classics. Click here to read the latest update from our source at Sony Classics.
