After Dark Doing Faithless & Perkins 14

I am a big fan of the concept of After Dark HorrorFest but will be honest, HorrorFest 2 sucked with the acception of BorderLand which I loved. Today it has been announced that After Dark Films will produce and distribute the horror films, Faithless and Perkins’ 14, it was announced today by CEO Courtney Solomon, marking the first time After Dark will produce films to be released as part of their 8 Films to Die For Ò series for the next After Dark Horrorfest.   Both films will shoot consecutively in Romania starting in May.

Stewart Hopewell will direct Faithless from a script he co-wrote with Tim Long.  Chris Milburn, Matthew Kuipers, Aimée Barth and Eryl Cochran Woodlief will produce.  In Faithless, a young woman thinks she is leaving her abusive life behind when she moves to Atlanta and ends up living at her family farm.  She quickly learns that abuse comes in even crueler forms.

This past February, After Dark Films and massify.com challenged raconteurs, horror hounds, filmmakers and regular folk alike to bring their creativity to a full-length horror film through a newly launched online network, www.massify.com.  The venture, the first feature film developed entirely via the internet, dubbed “Ghosts in the Machine,” gave the massify.com community the tools to create, submit and choose the idea for a unique motion picture.  The winning pitch and audience selection was Perkins’ 14, originated by Jeremy Donaldson.  Lane Shadgett (Luna Park) will write the screenplay and Craig Singer (Dark Ride) will direct.  Chris Milburn and Matthew Kuipers will produce along with Donaldson.  Perkins’ 14 revolves around the arrest of a suspected murderer and the bloodshed that follows.

After Dark’s Solomon, Laura Ivey and Stephanie Caleb will serve as executive producers with Beau J. Genot as co-producer on both films.

“Both Faithless and Perkins’ 14 are thrilling and provocative and are prime examples of the type of films we will continue to deliver – great horror flicks that delve far deeper than most other films in this genre,” stated Solomon.  “It’s great to see the Horrorfest slate take shape as we gear up for this year’s fest.  This move into producing films as part of Horrorfest is a new initiative and these two films are great examples to launch this concept.”

"Perkins' 14 proves that turning the process over to fans can generate electrifying results," said Kenneth Woo, President of Massify. "Once we finish casting the movie online, we're excited to work with ADF to turn Jeremy's nightmare vision into another great Horrorfest film."

Mark Damon of Foresight Unlimited will be licensing international rights to both films at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes.
