Julie Benz Joins Saw V

Julie Benz has just signed on to topline the next film in the Saw franchise, Saw V. This time around they have David Hackl directing who served as production designer on some of the previous Saw films with Darren Lynn Bousman. So he knows his way around the franchise.

The story this time around is written once again by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Production began on the film on March 17th. Benz will star alongside Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson and Costas Mandylor. Lionsgate plan to release the film on October 24th.

John Kramer has been confirmed dead, and Hoffman, who admires Jigsaw's work is hunted and captured by the sadistic apprentice, currently unknown. Agent Perez, who is in critical condition, is suddenly missing, and awakes to find herself at the beginning of the apprentice's new work.

Perez is told she has limited time to live without medication to find Hoffman, the man who caused her to be hospitalized. Fulfilling her task, Perez confronts dreadful fears in which she couldn't even imagine, that of which include meeting her missing partner, Strahm, who has suffered from Hoffman's acts as well, but in another drastic manner.
