One More for Street Fighter

Once again we are going to go into that nostalgic zone for me. As a kid I saw the original Street Fighter movie with Jean Claude Van Damme and I actually really liked. But even then I knew it was a bad movie. It was one of those guilty pleasure films. Some of the effects with guys like Blanka were just awful. But today I think with all the advancements blending both practical and CGI effects they could make a really kick ass film.

Today Variety announced that Josie Ho would join the previously cast Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein and Rick Yune in the new film being put together by Hyde Park Entertainment. Kreuk will be portraying the Chinese martial artist Chun Li, Duncan is the American boxer Balrog, Klein will play Nash and Yune is stepping into the role of Gen.

Rounding out the cast are Moon Bloodgood, Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas as Vega, Singapore's Edmund Chen and Hong Kong film star Cheng Pei Pei. A couple days ago it was revealed that Neal McDonough would play the villianous M. Bison. Word is that filming has begun in Bangkok, Thailand.

Andrzej Bartkowiak is directing from a script by Voltron writer Justin Marks. I'm not completely sold that this movie is not going to suck. Something about this movie just doesn't feel right to me. Hopefully they can prove me wrong but I am deeply concerned that just with casting alone aside from Balrog they got it all wrong.
