Neil Marshall's Next: Drive

Posted by: Luke

Neil Marshall hit the horror scene with a bang directing his first feature film Dog Soldiers. A fantastic film that found a team of soldiers battling off a rag tag group of werewolves. Next Marshall upped the ante with one of the best horror films from the UK with The Descent. Another classic for the genre with an all women ensemble cast that go down in the caves to discover some seriously angry and hungry creatures. Currently in theaters is Doomsday which many are praising despite low box office returns.

Today his next project was announced, Drive. Marshall has signed with Universal to direct the adaptation of the James Sallis novel. Variety also reports that Hugh Jackman is attached to play a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway car driver in heists.

"This is something I haven't done before, and I've wanted to bring a British sensibility to an L.A. shoot and a scorched classic film noir concept," Marshall told the trades. "Hoss is a fantastic writer, and he's written three amazing car chases in the film. He's turned them into dramatic scenes as opposed to the usual crash, bang, wallop. I would like to be shooting it this summer."

Marshall has also signed on with Universal to direct Sacrilege. Another horror film that is set in the old west. Sounds like Neil Marshall is playing with the big boys now. I'm glad to see that despite some low box office results on Doomsday Universal is still sticking with their guy.
