Guillermo Del Toro talks The Hobbit

Michael from TheOneRing emailed us to update us on the Hobbit movie. First off he confirmed that indeed Guillermo Del Toro is not yet directing the film with quotes from the famous director. Quote;

“At this stage anything I say is of no consequence for I am not yet signed
to do “The Hobbit.” Negotiations advance but are still ongoing,” “All I can say is that I am diligently going through all Tolkien material related to Middle-earth but only as a way of bridging a gap in my reading. I still respond the strongest to “The Hobbit,” but as an avid reader of Mythology I find a lot of his other writings fascinating. A perfect Cosmology forged from very eclectic sources,” he said.

It seems that legal wranglings are what is making this one fun. Go here to read more. You will recall that earlier NewLine Informed us that they have inked a two picture deal with Peter Jackson to bring the Hobbit to life. MGM will also co-finance the film with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh producing. New Line also let it be known that all litigation in reference to the earlier Lord of the Rings films has been settled. I am very excited by this news and look forward to these two films and no doubt so is Peter Jackson and New Line since the last films made billions!
