Josh Hartnett (30 Days of Night) has just been cast in the martial arts action flick, Bunraku. I'm not really a big fan of Hartnett but I can always take a martial arts film. I'm really hoping however that they get him into some kind of heavy duty training like what Christian Bale did for Batman. There is nothing worse than seeing a martial arts film then with someone who has no idea what they are doing.
Hartnett will play an unnamed, revenge-seeking drifter in an alternate universe. Snoot boasts the pic's chockablock inspirations, which stretch from Japanese puppet theater to video games to German expressionism, and is billing the story as a spaghetti-Western-samurai-gangster mashup. Guy Moshe is going to direct and write the film which is expected to begin shooting later this spring in Europe.
