Cloverfield Sequel On The Way

There has been a lot of speculation by fans that a sequel is going to be on the way. Well today Variety has confirmed that Paramount is in talks with Matt Reeves to direct the sequel. The big question is when will we be able to see this sequel? Its all coming down to timing.

Paramount has to complete discussions with Reeves, Producer JJ Abrams and scribe Drew Goddard. Then of course they will have to spin together another tale for Cloverfield. Once that is complete what storyline can they go with? Another story out of the first break out? Or perhaps follow up on the ending of the first?

However Matt Reeves is also in talks to direct Invisble Woman which is a Hitchcockian thriller. So depending on how fast they pull everything together will determine how soon we will see the sequel to Cloverfield. This really just came down to timing I don't think anyone doubted that a sequel was coming with the record breaking MLK opening weekend of $46 million. All that with only a budget of an amazingly low $25 million. A sequel was obviously a no brainer for Paramount.
