Carla Gugino Speaks About The Watchmen

Posted by: Luke

I hate admit but I have never actually read The Watchmen series by Alan Moore. I am hoping however that I will be able to pick up some of the trades and get caught up before Zack Snyder's The Watchmen film adaptation hits the screens on March 6th, 2009. My guess is that once again Alan Moore will not like the adaptation because he seems to never like them no matter how well they do in theaters or by the fans.

Today the incredibly sexy Carla Gugino (Sin City) spoke with MTV while she was attending the SAG Awards. Gugino was cast as superheroine, Sally Jupiter aka Silk Spectre. She had plenty to say and talked about her experience on the film, "It was really one of the craziest, most fun roles I’ve ever gotten to play. I start at 25 years old in the 1940s, and I age to 67 years old with full prosthetics in the 1980s. [Sally] is a larger-than-life character. She’s a costumed crime fighter, but her idea of a costume is very Bettie Page-meets-[Alberto] Vargas.”

She went on to reveal her most pivotal scene and the insane title sequence that Zack Snyder has come up with, "The rape scene is pretty crazy that Jeffrey Dean Morgan and I have. Not that I would say that’s the one I really want you guys to see. … The title sequence of this movie is going to be extraordinary. We spent many weeks over the time of the shoot shooting it. That’s going to be a very, very special thing that wasn’t scripted, that will be really empowering. (The title sequence) incorporates real history and the fictitious world of Watchmen, and so it’s very cool. We meet Nixon and all sorts of people.”

So far it sounds like it is going to be one wild ride. Although it also sounds like it is going to be a very dark ride much like Rodriguez's Sin City. Not that that's a bad thing though. Let's all hope its that good.
