Cast for G.I. Joe Continues to Grow

I can remember as a little youngster in the 80s running around with my Hasbro G.I. Joe action figures and singing along to the theme song on the animated television series. At that time I could have never imagined that nearly 20 years later they would be making a huge big budget feature film out of this little cartoon.

Today Variety has announced that Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum will join the always growing cast for Paramounts live action G.I. Joe. Quaid will play General Hawk, the grizzled team leader. Tatum will play Duke Hauser, the lead soldier of the G.I. Joe crew. In addition to that IESB has learned that Arnold Vosloo and David Murray have both been cast as villians in the flick. Vosloo will play Zartan, a mercenary who works with Destro and Cobra and Murray is Destro the faceless power behind Military Armaments Research System, the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponry.

The rest of the cast includes Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Rex) and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) in the live action G.I Joe directed by Stephen Sommers set to be released August 7, 2009.
