Dragonball Movie Is a Go!

When I was younger I got into this big Japanese craze where I wanted to watch all kinds of Japanese Anime like Dragonball, Pokemon and so on. Well I always jumped on the bandwagons in the very beginning and then when everything went out of control with popularity I quickly jumped off.

Despite not being much of a fan anymore I am looking forward to the new live-action film Dragonball. The basic premise of the story is that this little boy named Goku must find all seven dragonballs to make his wish come true. Of course there was always some dillemna he would find himself in so the wish would always have to be something different. He always had different villians and in some cases he would have to team up with them in order to defeat the more evil villian. Anyway point is, it made for interesting viewing when I was a kid.

Today it was announced that Justin Chatwin was cast as Goku. Along with him James Marsters will play the lead villian, Lord Piccolo. Emmy Rossum will play the female lead, Bulma. "Heroes" actress Eriko Tamura, who plays Mai, and newcomer Joon Park, who plays bad boy Yamcha, are also coming aboard the film. Jamie Chung's role in the film has not yet been revealed but he is also along for the ride.

Now if that cast didn't spark your interest maybe some of the people behind the scenes will. First Producing the film will be Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer) and directing will be James Wong (Final Destination 1 & 3) from a script that he penned.
