Hammer Films Are Back

Not long ago it was made apparent that Hammer Films were making their come back. The studio has had several failed attempts to be brought back to life but under the recent ownership they seem to be thriving. The old Hammer Films have always been period pieces that went back to the classic movie monsters from Universal and brought them to life in full color. Now however they are taking a modern twist.

According to Variety the newest Hammer project Beyond the Rave will be released in 20 minute online webisodes on MySpace TV. A partnership that will no doubt be good for exposure but where will all the money come from? Well they also plan on releasing a DVD with the entire film that you can buy or download.

Matthias Hoene will be directing the project. The cast includes Sadie Frost (“Bram Stoker’s Dracula”), Jamie Dornan (“Marie-Antoinette”), Nora-Jane Noone (“The Descent”) and Tamer Hassan (“Layer Cake”).

As for the film itself, the vampire tale takes place in England where the underground rave scene is thriving. Beyond the Rave follows a hedonistic soldier in his quest to track down his missing girlfriend in the last 24 hours before he flies to Iraq.
