And the Cecil B. DeMille Award Goes to SpielbergPosted by: JerricaFinally! Isn’t it about time that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave its Cecil B. DeMille Award to Steven Spielberg? Well, good news, because the six-time Golden Globe-winner and Academy Award-winning director is going to kick off the New Year in style, receiving the award at the 65th Golden Globe Awards in January. Spielberg has won Golden Globes in the past for his work on “Schindler’s List,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Letters from Iwo Jima,” and “E.T.” And he’s had 12 nominations on top of those wins for work on such film as “Amistad” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Spielberg joins the ranks of fellow DeMille Award recipients as his “Indiana Jones” star Harrison Ford, one of his “Amistad” stars Anthony Hopkins, and his “Hook” star Robin Williams. It’s definitely about time, especially since Spielberg’s filmography goes back to the late 1950s and so many other Hollywood greats (including Gene Hackman and Al Pacino) have been honored with the award in recent years. Spielberg’s films have grossed billions and he’s one of the biggest, most powerful, inspired and artistic forces in the movie biz. With an endless list of credits that range from the roles of director, writer and producer, he is ready for his closeup, Mr. DeMille. The Golden Globes will air live on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
