New on DVD October 9thPosted by: Michael
Tomorrow is going to be another big day for DVD Releases. First off we have Surfs Up the family friendly animated flick which I passed on. It wasnt my cup of tea. Surf’s Up is an animated action-comedy that delves behind the scenes of the high-octane world of competitive surfing. The film profiles teenage Rockhopper penguin Cody Maverick (Shia LaBeouf), an up-and-coming surfer, as he enters his first pro competition. Followed by a camera crew to document his experiences, Cody leaves his family and home in Shiverpool, Antarctica to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memorial Surf Off.
Evan Almighty starring the hilarious Steve Carrell is also on DVD. Having seen this one I have to say its an absolute must see. Family safe, and also full of laughs for the adults its one of the best sequels I have seen in awhile. I dare say that Steve did an even better job the Jim Carrey did in the first one! With intelligent dialogue and family friendly laughs its definitely a safe bet to buy or rent for your family! ( review )
On a spookier note there are two versions of 28 Weeks Later hitting DVD. I saw the first film and love it. 28 Weeks Later has also gotten Rave reviews as a must see horror movie for fans of Zombie flicks
On the indie front we have the truly hilarious comedy Black Sheep which is a MUST see. When a pair of inept environmental activists release a mutant lamb from Angus' laboratory, thousands of sheep are turned into bloodthirsty predators. Along with farmhand Tucker and greenie girl Experience, Henry finds himself stranded deep on the farm as his worst nightmare comes to life. Battling their way to safety the intrepid trio discover there’s worse to come: one bite from an infected sheep seems to have alarming effect on those bitten...
Click any of the images to the right to get complete details on the titles. There is a nice mix of new and old re-releases on DVD today. Wrong Turn 2 I wont mention since it looks horrible. And Lucie Liu's vampire flick RISE is also on DVD that seemed to float in and out of theatres with little more then a murmur.
