Misery Collectors Edition on DVDPosted by: MichaelMisery The Collectors edition has just hit DVD and is a great Halloween film to treat yourself to. Misery loves company. MGM Home Entertainment presents the terrifying tale of one fan’s extreme obsession when Misery: Starring James Caan (“Las Vegas,” The Godfather) and Kathy Bates (Bee Movie, About Schmidt) in the role that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1991, Misery follows Paul Sheldon (Caan), a novelist who has garnered fame and fortune through his literary heroine “Misery Chastaine.”
After a near fatal car crash, Sheldon is saved by his “number one fan” Annie Wilkes (Bates). While under Wilkes’ care Sheldon quickly realizes that the character of “Misery Chastaine” means more to her than he will ever know, thrusting him into a harrowing fight for his life. Directed by Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally) and written by two-time Oscar winner William Goldman (All the President’s Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) from the popular novel by Stephen King; Misery features outstanding supporting performances from Lauren Bacall (Birth, Dogville), Richard Farnsworth (The Straight Story, The Getaway) and Frances Sternhagen (The Mist, “ER”). The collector’s edition DVD features commentary from Reiner and Goldman, interviews with Kathy Bates and nine behind-the-scenes featurettes.
Misery: Collector’s Edition Novelist Paul Sheldon (Caan) doesn't remember the blinding blizzard that sent his car spinning off the road. Nor does he remember being nursed back from unconsciousness. All he remembers is waking up in the home of Annie Wilkes (Bates) a maniacal fan who is bent on keeping her favourite writer as her personal prisoner for the rest of his "cock-a-doodie" life.
