Scream 4 Greenlit

Lots of remake and sequel news today and this is once again from the Weinsteins. They announced today that SCREAM 4 has been greenlit. Did anyone watch Scream 3? The first one was some campy fun but I gave up after #2. I dont tend to watch any moves past #2 though with some acceptions like The Matrix, Star Wars, Terminator and The Smurfs... ok scratch that last one.

The Weinsteins say "The Scream franchise has become a cult classic. Together, all three movies have grossed over $300 million at the box office, just in the United States alone. The fans have been asking for a 4th Scream movie for years and we're finally giving it to them. As far as details go, we're only in the planning stages and we may not get around to it [Scream 4] for quite some time, but rest assured, it will happen."

The producer are saying they are in talks with the original cast but I wonder if Neve Campbell will return after her earlier negative comments. A long time back she spoke with FilmFocus, quote:

"We were really lucky with the Scream films to actually make a good trilogy, I think it's very challenging to find other films that have done that properly, but I think it was a good idea for me to stop there.

They are going to go ahead and make a Scream 4, I guess they're casting it right now and it was offered to me; but to me, for Sidney, it just doesn't make sense."

Mr. Horror, emailed to let us know that although Neve is not involved, the rest of the cast is very interested. Courtney Cox Arquette and David Arquette are both reprising their roles as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley.
