Crowe Currently Working on Body of Lies

The remake of the 1957 western “3:10 to Yuma” starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, has apparently set a new record for western openings with a $14 million weekend, according to a report from Reuters. (Funny thing, this Reuters report erroneously identifies Bale as having starred in the 2005 film “Batman Returns”… If they ever make a “Superman Begins,” I’m sure more such confusion will follow. And for the record, Bale’s best known role is as Batman in “Batman Begins”!)

 

On the heels of “Yuma”’s success, word is already hitting the Associated Press that Crowe is filming a his next big feature, “Body of Lies” in Maryland. Crowe has been spotted in Annapolis and seems to be making friendly impressions along the way. “Body of Lies” is a thriller based on the novel by David Ignatius, a columnist for the Washington Post. Leonardo DiCaprio also stars. Interestingly enough, Crowe starred in DiCaprio’s film “The Quick and the Dead” in 1995, also a western. “Lies” will be directed by Ridley Scott, making this Scott’s fourth time working with Crowe, including “Gladiator,” “A Good Year” and this fall’s “American Gangster.”
