Hartnett Talks 30 Days of NightPosted by: Jerrica“30 Days of Night†star Josh Hartnett recently spoke about the upcoming movie based on the comic by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith. The film is about an Alaskan town that finds itself under siege when the darkest time of the year rolls around, leaving them vulnerable to hungry, relentless vampires. Hartnett (“Sin City,†“Hollywood Homicide†and “Lucky Number Slevinâ€) plays Eben Olemaun, and here’s what he had to say to ShockTillYouDrop about why he wanted the role: “Well, because it's a vampire movie, and I just think that vampire movies are incredible. I've always been kind of fascinated with it, and I read the comic book and loved it. It's not like it's just all running and screaming. It's actually quite a difficult character piece. It's all about trying to find your way into a headspace where you can actually sacrifice yourself or someone you love. It was a good dramatic movie actually when it comes down to it, 'cause there were just so many scenes of people sitting in a room, huddled and starting to lose it because they've been hiding for so long. It's good. I liked it a lot, and I had a great time.†The actor who rose to Hollywood’s hot list after appearing in movies such as “Pearl Harbor,†“O†and “Black Hawk Down†says that he enjoyed filming the movie on a set built in New Zealand that was essentially the entire town needed for the film and he’s already making it known that he doubts his character would appear in a sequel, a conclusion fans of the comic would probably have come to themselves being familiar with the material, though there is room for speculation. “30 Days of Night†is directed by David Slade (“Hard Candyâ€) and written by Steve Niles and Stuart Beattie, co-stars Ben Foster (“X-Men: The Last Standâ€) and Melissa George (“The Amityville Horror,†2005), and opens on Oct. 19.
